JOHNSON CITY EYE SURGERY CENTER – Fast Paced, Ambulatory Surgery Center
Full-time, Days, No weekends, Ophthalmology experience preferred.
JOB SUMMARY:
This individual is responsible for working with the operating room registered nurse to maintain a safe, surgical intervention for the patient by practicing proper aseptic technique and by using a good working knowledge of the procedure by anticipating the surgeon’s needs in performing the procedure.
Responsible for proper room set up, proficient in sterile technique, preparing sterile field with proper instrumentation, assisting the surgeon during case, maintaining sharps and instrument counts, and assisting with room turnover.
Also, responsible for decontamination and sterile processing of instruments and trays according to policies and procedures. Ensures sterility of instruments and trays. Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate.
- One or more years of related work experience in operating room preferred.
- Must have CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or completed an accredited surgical technology program.

Medical Assistant - Ophthalmology
**$1,000 SIGN ON BONUS W/1 Year commitment**
POSITION: Medical Assistant – Ophthalmology
Will train qualified candidate.
JOB SUMMARY: This individual supports ophthalmologists by interviewing patients to obtain medical and ocular history, performing preliminary testing , assisting physician as needed, patient work up and diagnostic testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories into Electronic Health Record.
- Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including but not limited to intraocular pressure, basic motility, visual fields, fundus photography OCT, refractions, A-Scans, and topography .
- Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as directed by physician.
- Assisting physician with minor surgical procedures, sterile preparations and documentation.
- Maintain confidentially of patient records.
- Prepare procedure and exam rooms.
- Perform basic triage.
- Work as a team player.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Communicate clearly with patients.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two years experience in a medical office.
- Excellent spelling ability.
- Ophthalmic coding certification, or obtained within 1 year.

Healthcare Compliance Officer / HR
Responsibilities:
· Develops, maintains and revises policies and procedures for general operation of compliance program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical and improper conduct.
· Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
· Acts as an independent review to ensure that compliance issues and concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
· Identifies potential area of compliance vulnerability and risk, through chart audits and reporting.
· Works with all departments to implement effective training for new employees and ongoing
training for all employees and managers.
· Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and relates activities on a continuing
basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
· Serves at support for billing office (Clinic and Surgery Center).
· Maintains HIPAA policies and procedures. Trains new employees upon hire and initiates
annual updates for all employees.
· Process employee paperwork for incoming employees.
· Recruits, hires and processes new staff.
· Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.
· Maintains personnel records in compliance with federal, state and local employments laws and regulations.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
· Administers employee benefits programs. Including health, dental, life, disability and 401K.
· Reviews and negotiates managed care contracts for participation.
Qualifications
· Strong problem solving skills with ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
· Extensive medical coding knowledge.
· Working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to health care operations.
· Previous Human Resource experience helpful.
· Minimum 2 years medical billing experience.
· Certified Coder –preferred.
· Strong attention to detail.
Patient Service Representative
Patient Service Representative
Description: The Patient Service Representative provides assistance to patients, doctors, office employees and other individuals. This employee is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, checking in and checking out patients, scanning and maintaining medical records, verifying insurance, obtaining insurance authorizations/medical clearances, scheduling surgery and other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls
- Schedule patient appointments
- Check in and check out patients according to established protocol
- Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed and signatures obtained
- Insurance verification
- Schedule follow-up appointments and/or transfer of care
- Collect fee for services
- Scan documentation into electronic health record according to established protocol
- Obtain proper insurance authorization or referral
- Schedule post-operative appointments as appropriate
- Respond and comply to patient requests for information in a professional and efficient manner
- Protect patients’ right of confidentiality; mandatory familiarity with HIPAA
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical office experience –will train appropriate candidate
- Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred
- Understanding of basic healthcare terminology
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work both as a team member as well as a team leader
