Raised in Johnson City, Tennessee, Dr. Shirley Velasco-Hill has returned to her hometown to provide exceptional eye care to the community she knows and loves. A proud graduate of Science Hill High School, Dr. Velasco-Hill’s journey in the field of optometry has been marked by dedication, excellence, and a genuine passion for helping others achieve optimal eye health. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Biology, with a Minor in Health Sciences, from East Tennessee State University in 2018. Her academic prowess earned her a place on the Dean’s List and membership in the Pre-Optometry Club. Driven by her aspiration to make a difference in eye care, she pursued her Doctorate of Optometry from the Kentucky College of Optometry in Pikeville, graduating with the Class of 2023.

Dr. Velasco-Hill’s dedication extends beyond her clinical expertise. She has been actively involved in various professional organizations, including the Student Volunteer Optometrist Services to Humanity and the National Optometric Student Association, where she served as Secretary. She is a proud member of the Kentucky Optometric Association and has actively participated in diversity discussions as a committee panelist.
