Billing Specialist

We are looking for a competent Billing Specialist to undertake a variety of financial and non-financial tasks in order to help guarantee the company’s revenues. You will handle the processing of incoming payments along with working denials to ensure payment. This position is located at our Billing Department in Blountville, TN.  This is not a remote position.


  • Assume the responsibility of receiving and sorting incoming insurance payments with attention to detail
  • Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies
  • Issue and post payments, receipts, and invoices
  • Allocate accounts receivable with new accounts or missed payments
  • Create refunds for insurance companies and patients
  • Work claims and denials
  • Maintain 10%-15% over 90 days self-pay accounts receivable
  • Answer incoming phone calls: field patient phone calls as well as internal queries
  • Monitor accounts receivable for insurances
  • Explain insurance benefits to patients
  • File workers comp claims in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Will be cross-trained on multiple insurances


  • Experience in medical billing and collections in a clinical setting

Ophthalmology Assistant/Technician

Will train qualified candidate, but ophthalmic knowledge or healthcare experience beneficial.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports ophthalmologists by interviewing patients to obtain medical and ocular history, scribing, performing preliminary testing, assisting physicians as needed, patient work up, and diagnostic testing.


  • Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories into Electronic Health Record
  • Scribe for different specialties
  • Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including but not limited to: intraocular pressure, basic motility, visual fields, fundus photography OCT, refractions, biometry, and topography.
  • Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as directed by physician
  • Assisting physician with minor surgical procedures, sterile preparations, and documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records

Patient Representative

JOB SUMMARY:   This individual is responsible for welcoming patients to the practice, treating all patients in a professional and courteous manner, checking-in patients, reviewing patient charts to verify necessary information and signatures, and entering all patient demographic information into computer.  This individual is also responsible for checking-out patients, collecting payments, explaining all charges to patients, and re-verifying all insurance and address information.

Patient Care Technician - Johnson City Eye Surgery Center

Patient Care Technician:

DEPARTMENT: Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

Job Summary: Provides direct patient care by assisting patients with ambulation, transport and nutrition. Maintains a clean and orderly patient care environment. Assists with patient support duties such as running errands, stocking supplies, counting inventory and updating logs. Demonstrates the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations. Direct patient care and supportive services will be provided under registered nurse supervision.

Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Current CPR certification.

Patient Greeter

Job Summary: This individual is responsible for greeting patients upon their arrival to the eye center. They welcome patients to the practice and screen patients at the point of entry.

Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Experience in healthcare setting/medical office preferred.

3. Experience using computers/tablets.
