Human Resources Director

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Summary:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the human resources office and ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations related to healthcare and employment. This includes recruitment and retention, hiring and onboarding new employees, termination practices and associated documentation and processes, managing employee relations, maintaining employee records, managing compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations, overseeing management and/or employee relations, and ensuring employment practices are in compliance with laws and regulations related to healthcare and employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for Johnson City Eye Clinic related to human resources and compliance, including but not limited to, HIPAA, OSHA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Fraud, Waste and Abuse.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and CMS regulations.
  • Oversee employee relations. Including, but not limited to, managing employee relations issues and collaborating with appropriate supervisors to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Supervise recruitment and retention. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and implementing recruitment strategies, retaining top talent, planning and conducting new employee orientation and onboarding.

Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Summary: This individual is responsible for verification of insurance, obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals. This employee will educate the patients on various policies, procedures and benefits related to the need for referrals and coordinate referrals with patients and referring physician offices. Medical Billing Specialist

We are looking for a motivated individual who will be responsible for managing accounts receivable balances, billing, follow-up and collection of assigned insurance claims; maintaining correspondence with carriers, and documentation regarding same; reviewing problem accounts and identifying necessary actions to be taken.

This is not a remote position but willing to be flexible with schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume the responsibility of receiving and sorting incoming insurance payments
  • Manage the status of accounts and balances and identify inconsistencies
  • Issue and post payments, receipts, and invoices
  • Allocate accounts receivable with new accounts or missed payments

    Surgery Scheduler/Prior Authorization Specialist

    JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for scheduling all surgical procedures, obtaining referrals/pre-authorizations and medical clearances, and computer task management. A strong communication skill set is required for communications between staff, management and patients served.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

    2. At least two years’ experience in a surgical specialty practice, ophthalmology preferred.

    3. ICD-10 and CPT knowledge required.

    4. Comprehensive understanding of insurance authorizations required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    2. Acts as an effective liaison between the patient, surgeon, referring physician, and the surgical facility in all aspects of surgery scheduling.

    3. Coordinates processes and tasks as required to meet physician and facility requirements.

    4. Obtains pre-authorization and medical clearances for all procedures being provided prior to patient surgery.

    5. Reviews and resolves all reported authorization issues timely and effectively.

    6. Communicates authorization with patients and physicians timely and professionally.

    7. Documents work processes as required.

    8. Answers telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or referring physicians concerning surgery and/or related concerns.

    9. Performs other tasks as assigned.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    This individual is responsible for working with the operating room registered nurse to maintain a safe, surgical intervention for the patient by practicing proper aseptic technique and by using a good working knowledge of the procedure by anticipating the surgeon’s needs in performing the procedure.

    Responsible for proper room set up, proficient in sterile technique, preparing sterile field with proper instrumentation, assisting the surgeon during case, maintaining sharps and instrument counts, and assisting with room turnover.

    Also, responsible for decontamination and sterile processing of instruments and trays according to policies and procedures. Ensures sterility of instruments and trays. Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    •  High school graduate.
    • One or more years of related work experience in operating room preferred.
    • Must have CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or completed an accredited surgical technology program.
