Patient Access Representative

Patient Access Representative:

Description: The Patient Access Representative provides assistance to patients, doctors, office employees and other individuals. This employee is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, checking in and checking out patients, scanning and maintaining medical records, verifying insurance, obtaining insurance authorizations/medical clearances, scheduling surgery and other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

· Answer incoming calls

· Schedule patient appointments

· Check in and check out patients according to established protocol

· Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received.

· Insurance verification

· Schedule follow-up appointments and/or transfer of care

· Collect fee for services

· Scan documentation into electronic health record according to protocol

· Obtain proper insurance authorization or referral

· Schedule post-operative appointments as appropriate

· Respond and comply to patient requests for information in a professional and efficient manner

· Protect patients’ right of confidentiality; mandatory familiarity with HIPAA

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Medical office experience –will train appropriate candidate

· Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred

· Understanding of basic healthcare terminology

· Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and oral

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

· Ability to work both as a team member as well as a team leader

· Pleasant, respectful, and empathetic personality and disposition

Responsibilities:

*Answers incoming calls routing to the appropriate individual
*Scheduling appointments
*Cancel and reschedule appointments as necessary
*Follow up on no show appointments

Qualifications:

*Previous healthcare or call center experience preferred
*Excellent customer service and communication skills
