Dr. Callie Root is a dedicated optometrist serving the East Tennessee region with a passion for patient-centered eye care. A native of Kingsport, Tennessee, Dr. Root completed her undergraduate studies at East Tennessee State University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. During her time at ETSU, she was an active member of the Honors College, where she completed and defended her research, leading to a publication. She also served as president of the pre-optometry organization and was consistently on the Dean’s list.

Dr. Root earned her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University’s School of Optometry, where she completed clinical rotations with a focus on dry eye management and ocular disease. Throughout her education, she actively participated in community service, including volunteering with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, where she provided eye care to underserved populations both locally and abroad.

Her clinical experience spans a wide range of settings, including specialized rotations in corneal disease, dry eye care, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and pediatric optometry. Dr. Root is committed to providing comprehensive eye care to her patients and is excited to bring her expertise to the Johnson City Eye team.

Dr. Root is enthusiastic about serving the community where she was raised and providing quality eye care to patients across the region.
